At the Luna Therapy & Wellness Center, our team of experienced therapists offers inclusive care for all patients, including BIPOC and LGBTQ community members who need mental health support. Our goal is to offer holistic health care in-person and online, including therapy and treatment for trauma in the Bowling Green, Elizabethtown, Louisville, and Lexington, KY areas.
What Is Trauma?
Trauma is exposure to an event or series of events that may result in emotional, physical, and/or life-altering harm. Exposure to trauma can lead to negative long-term consequences that may pervade all aspects of our lives and our relationships.
Importantly, trauma affects everyone differently and these kinds of experiences can happen to anyone at any time in their life. However, trauma is, unfortunately, particularly prevalent in BIPOC and LGBTQ communities, which is why our center is inclusive, so that we can focus our efforts and support where it’s most needed.
Treatment Options for Trauma
If you have had a traumatic experience that is affecting your daily life and mental health, it’s important to seek help. Similarly, if you have recently been affected by trauma, we encourage you to seek care once you can do so.
Our counselors and therapists are skilled at providing the appropriate treatment and therapy for trauma, tailored to your experience and perception of the events in a way that will work best for you.
For this reason, our therapists at the Luna Therapy & Wellness Center offer in-person and online care to the residents of Kentucky when they need treatment or therapy for trauma using multiple approaches including:
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
- Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
- Trauma-informed Weightlifting (TIWL)
- Somatic therapy
- Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy
- Military Behavioral Health interventions
Why It’s Important to Tackle Your Trauma
There are multiple categories of trauma ranging from childhood trauma to generational trauma, but they can have similar consequences. If you leave your trauma unaddressed, it can lead to chronic health conditions and maladaptive coping mechanisms such as drug and alcohol abuse and other risky behaviors.
By addressing your trauma, our team can help you work through your experiences in a healthy way that will benefit you in the long run.
